C-RAFT: ARTS & CRAFT Fayre, Exhibitions & Family Fun Day

Treorchy will play host to the second Arts and Crafts Fayre, Exhibitions and Family Fun Day on the central big weekend of RAFT 2019. This year the events will be split across a number of sites including the popular Market Square, throughout Treorchy Comprehensive School, exhibition sites across the town and - for over 18s only - our all new C-RAFT Beer & Gin Festival will take place at Treorchy Oval, together with additional events and performances throughout the town.

Arts & C-RAFT Market
Down at the central Market Square, our RAFT Arts & C-RAFT stalls will join together with the popular monthly Treorchy market. Promoting and selling local produce and crafts, items that will be available include locally roasted coffee through to handcrafted cushions, bags and more. The market runs from 

Exhibitions & Performances
While you're in the centre of the town, be sure to visit the fantastic Kiyoharu Dragon, on loan from the British Museum, London on FREE display at Treorchy Library together with additional exhibitions at Lili Wen (Lucy Jane Purrington: Self Portraits), High Street Social (Trevor James: Images of Japan), Too Good To Waste (Ystradyfodwg Arts Society: 50th anniversary exhibition), Cwm Farm Shop, Ynyswen (Susan Williams: The Horse) and the Workers Gallery, Ynyshir (J A Mortram: Small Town Inertia). ​A variety of venues throughout the town will also feature live performances throughout the day, including The Lonely Hearts performing at Hot Gossip from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, plus a range of After Dark events, all of which are listed here 

Family Fun & Community Open Day
​Treorchy Comprehensive School's Family Fun & Community Open Day is open to all and proves the perfect day out for people of all ages. The event will feature live and recorded music, book talks, arts and sports activities for the whole community to enjoy.

Enjoy delicious refreshments, including the award-winning Rhondda ice cream Sub Zero and Home Economics department baked goods, plus entertainment from Rhondda Radio and live artists throughout the day in our central canopied "chill out" zone.

Young children can enjoy a full day of fun activities with Matt Langley's Entertainment, plus our Teddy Bear's Picnic, and sweets, slush & inflatables from Roly Poly Entertainments & Treorchy School in and around the Performing Arts centre.

Inside the Performing Arts Centre is an All-Day Party which is available for ticketed bookings in 1.5 hour sessions, and where activities include Disco & Karaoke, Party Games (including Pass the Parcel, Pinata, Limbo, Ring Toss, Tug of War, the Parachute Game) plus Dance Action Songs with prizes for the best dancers, and Character Mascots suitable for both boys & girls. Party sessions are priced at just £4 and are available for booking here 
​Face Painting, Festival Face Glitter Art and Glitter Tattoos are also available on site for a small additional charge.

In addition to the above, older children can enjoy sports activities throughout the day, including football, rugby, golf and Armed Forces Day instructional training from the CCF.

Additional activities for all the community to participate in and enjoy also include Book Talks for all ages, art activities - including our Sion Tomos Owen Community Public Art Project - our Health Hub, Year 8 Fete and much, much more!

C-RAFT Beer & Gin plus our Evening Comedy from Omid Djalili!


Running on the same day as our Family Fun Day, and new to RAFT for 2019, is our C-RAFT Beer & Gin Festival. Strictly for over 18s only, the event will be hosted separately, running from 12:00 to 18:00 over at the Treorchy Oval. For full information and tickets, click here

After both the Family Fun Day and Beer & Gin Festival close, be sure to visit the wide variety of restaurants, bars and additional eateries throughout the town for A Bite to Eat, ahead of our headline evening of comedy at the Park & Dare Theatre, with award winning comedian & actor, star of "Live at the Apollo", "Gladiator", "The Mummy", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Mamma Mia 2" & more Omid Djalili!
